A. Anyone with a separate email program can use any name or address for the FROM address. I could change my name and address in seconds in Thunderbird to anything. It in no way indicates a problem. Spammers do it to keep mail from being returned to them. There is no way for you to stop it. If spam is being sent to people in your contact list it indicates that someone got into your account and took the list. They no longer need your account to use the list. You can change the password to try to keep it from happening again. Closing your account will not stop the spam. It will stop on it own. q
