Is there any way to stop unsolicited email?
Q. I keep getting these emails from people offering strange stocks for sale and also emails from Chinese people selling drugs. Is there anything I can do to stop this? I tried sending them back, but they were undeliverable. Does anyone know how to do this?

A. Don't open any emails from people you don't know, mark all unsolicited emails as spam and never check the unsubscribe box. Peace!

Would anyone please tell me how to filter-out unsolicited email? I know how to block an email address.?

What are the laws for sending unsolicited marketing email with email addresses I found on websites?

A. There's been some big fines levied against spam kings. I wouldn't dare try to advise you other than to contact a lawyer. A lot of people get unwanted emails and sort through them rather quickly, so, your email, not being from a known source, could be just deleted without having been read. Also, filters may block your emails from even getting to the intended targets. Seek out a lawyer who has knowledge in this area.

Is anyone else having trouble moving unwanted, unsolicited email to the trash by marking it as SPAM?
Q. It worked last week but hasn't now for the last 4 or 5 days. I check the box of the naughty porn emails, then I click on the SPAM button, and then the screen goes blank like it's having difficulty 'thinking' - but then nothing happens; it gets stuck there. I tried doing it with only 1 email to see if that would help, thinking my computer was overwhelmed, and it did the same thing. I have tried at home (old computer) and at work with the same result. Help if you can. Or is this a Yahoo system problem they are working on?

Q. Is this a virus in my computer, or in Yahoo Mail?
Asked by GILC - Tue Jul 20 14:09:38 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. People get unsolicited email all the time. It's called spam. Odds are, some company got a hold of your email through something you signed up for, and now they're using it to A) try to sell you something or B) steal your identity. In Yahoo mail, you can mark certain emails as "spam" and they'll go directly into the spam folder, so you never have to look at them. Then you can click one button to delete ALL of the spam in that folder. There's no real way to get rid of it permanently, it's just something everyone who uses the internet has to deal with.

I received an unsolicited email from the FBI, is this some kind of scam?
Q. it was from Robert Mueller III and address was fbi.gov concerning a wiretap on the Bank of Nigeria. I have never sent anything even remotely connected to the fbi, nor to our government, and especially not to some bank in Nigeria. Is this a worm/virus/scam? Thanks to all your quick responses, I thought only our government could use .gov in their address. Nigeria would have no luck with me, not into lottery stuff

A. Yes. Post the content of the e-mail to be sure, but most e-mail scams nowadays originate from Nigeria. "From" addresses can be faked.

Asked by Bertha T - Sun Sep 9 20:35:02 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There are many ways to block unsolicited commercial email (SPAM). But, each way is slightly different and depends on a variety of factors: 1. Who your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is. 2. Which email program (or method) you use to read your mail. 3. What level of access you have to adjust the settings or install software. Everyone needs to get their Internet connection from someone or somewhere. If you are at home you might have a cable or DSL connection from TimeWarner, Cox, AT&T, AOL, Earthlink, or some other provider. If you spend some time and read their web site you can usually find information about setting up spam filters or reporting unsolicited email. Check out some of the links below for some ideas. A. You can not completely stop all spam, but you can help to put a big dent in it. First, try not to open any of them, that only makes them send more and more to you. Check mark them and click on 'Spam,' this should stop those addresses from being delivered to your inbox. Use your spam filter and block address. Look for the 'Options' link at upper right corner of mail screen and click on it Options/ mail options / spam preferences make sure spam guard is on, click on save changes Options /mail options / blocked addresses Enter the E-mail address you wish blocked and click on 'add block' you will never get mail from that address again. This should help you to control your spam. Other tips: Never open E-mail unless you are absolutely sure who… [cont.]

Anyone else get an (unsolicited) email for diabetic socks like this?
Q. "Hey saw your post to a diabetic sock question. You should check out www.(namewitheld).com and click on their diabetic socks link. I am a diabetic myself and need wide socks for my swollen feet. These socks they sell are the best ive ever tried. Highly recommend them to you to try." The reason I find this odd is that I didn't post an answer to a diabetic socks question. I have no particular interest in them. Do you think someone is trying to do a little spam and advertising, perhaps?

A. I got the "Based on your questions, you'll really like this new cell phone" one myself, directly through the Yahoo Answers email link. As anybody who knows my persona on here knows, I rarely ask questions -- and NEVER about cell phones. So, yes, someone is going through profiles, finding the email links that are open, and using them for spamming purposes. I forwarded mine to the YA team at y_answrs_team@yahoo.com (missing 'e' is deliberate) with a note letting them know what happened and I let them take care of it. Spammer gone.

A. On your inbox page go to Options > Mail Options> SPAM Then set your spam level to have these delete automatically, or like once a day , or once a week. Only allow mail from your contact list. I have mine set to delete once a day so I can scan through them to make sure nothing slipped into bulk mail, by accident.

I started receiving unsolicited suspicious email by dozens from Nigeria. what can i do to stop this?
Q. All these emails, from different senders, tell me about money they have and would like to get out of their country. I know this type of email: they are just trying to have my bank account information to steal money if any. I opened my email yesterday and found more than 100 emails. I marked all of them as spam. but till now, while i am writing this question, i am receiving some emails. I don't know how they got my address. How can i stop them? should I disable my email account?

A. Hey I have been getting them for months, ignore them, with the infomation they want. They could make out papers in your name and get a passport. Do not give them any information or your could find your self in a lot of trouble. Down load a program that screens your emails. It is called ChoiceMail Free. It has a lot of rules and regulations to screen emails, but you can add your own. Then just delete them to the garbage can if its not on your contact list. The program is free.
