A. Yup. There's a bolt on the side of the tranny that you can pull to check the level. You'll need to look in the service manual to be sure which bolt it is, though. If the oil is level with the bottom edge of the bolt hole, you're good. To make matters worse, you're expected to add oil through the same bolt hole. You'll want a funnel with a hose, or a turkey baster. Follow-up: My '87 Toyota truck has never been drained and refilled. I just check the level every couple of years and top up as necessary. It has never needed much. At 127K miles your car is overdue for a tranny fluid level check in my opinion.

A. Sadly this is right, I have a 97 rodeo and Run a 10 min oil change Shop, the only way to check fluid levels is to go to the parts dep to get a special fluid check gauge.. You can have a T-Tech done to replace all the trans fluid, I did this on my rodeo which are basically the same thing... You have on your tranny a drain plug then right by that there is an overflow plug, that is the only way to check the fluid levels... Sorry, but hope this helps, even though I did do the T-tech on my rigg, I would ask the service dept before you have yours done to see what they say?.. When I did mine I also replaced the tranny pan gasket and filter...

Q. I found in the tires the maximal pressure but I understand this is not the ideal. I want to check and mantain the tires on my vehicle with optimal pressure but I can not find the proper figures. A 1997 car, as you can imagine does not retain the sticker in the inside of the driver door, nor in the gas lid. A useful answer would give me figures in Psi for front and real tires. That's all.

A. A car engine is designed to operate on a certain octane. High octane fuel burns slower which allows for high compression. Not putting the right octane fuel in a car will negatively effect performance. If a car is designed for 87 octane putting 93 octane will actually hurt performance. You can get away with running lower than recommended octane in a car as long as you don't hear the engine "pinging" which is fuel burning too fast in the cylinder. If your going to be traveling in the mountains or towing a boat you should put the correct octane in the car. If your just driving in the city you can get away with lower octane. Q. I have a 1997 black Maxima with a damaged side mirror. I was looking at eBay and found a set of mirrors with LED lights that flash when you signal for a turn (like that of the Benz). My concern is installing them. Since the stock mirrors don't have flashing lights, how am I supposed to wire the mirrors to be able to get a message from the car when it is signaling?

Q. I have a 2002 Hyundai Accent that is totaled on the front end. A local person is selling a 1997 Hatchback with a blown engine. Can I take the front end off of the hatchback and make it work for the 4 door? Thanks.
